This is from the day before I left. Emily and I hiked out to Trois Bassins and went around exploring hidden pools and waterfalls and tunnels and all manner of beautiful things. I threw this together in various airports on the way home; it reminds me of one of the best days I spent on the island.

If it makes you feel better, it’s $9-$10/gallon here.

Tomorrow begins the ascent!
(Somehow I missed the unrolling of Google Maps “terrain view” back in November…it makes the island look neat)

A lot of my French coworkers approach 2nd grade art this way, for some reason.

My days are filled with a disorienting mixture of languages. So is this Muxtape. Specifically, it’s devoted to that delightful mélange of French and English known to the Anglosphere as Frenglish.
(P.S. If there is some kind of Awkward Phonetics competition, everyone just lost to “Frenglish Muxtape.”)
I spent much of today being told “t’as une araignée dans les cheveux!” and having fish doodles taped to my back by very small, mischievous hands.

This is as fixed-width as volcanic sand gets, I’m afraid.
(You get the idea.)
